Brush Up on Our Dentist's Expertise
Dr. Heather Tutor DMD
Dr. Heather Tutor was born and raised in the Mississippi Delta, in the small town of Tchula. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated from the University of Mississippi dental school in 2000. She owned and practiced in Lexington, Mississippi for over 20 years before retiring in 2020.

Dr. Tutor realized she was not ready to give up dentistry, as she missed seeing people walk out her door smiling and finally feeling confident in their appearance and dental health.

Through providence, she now is able to call the most perfect log cabin in Pearl, MS- Tutor Family Dentistry.

Dr. Tutor has two children, Hayden, a graduate of Ole Miss, and Lyndsey, who attends the University of Southern Miss and also painted the beautiful artwork found around the office. Her husband, Sonny, is an orthodontist who has practiced in Brandon for over 20 years. She has two fur children, Victor and Merlin, who are retired racing greyhounds.

In addition to spending time with her family, Dr. Tutor loves making an impact on people’s confidence through fitness. When she is not at Tutor Family Dentistry, you can find her working at LuluLemon, training a client at a local gym, working out herself, enjoying Ole Miss sports, or watching horse racing.
Jill McCool RDH, Dental Hygienist
A proud Pearl native with deep roots in her community, Jill has been brightening smiles in her hometown for over 26 years. After graduating from Pearl River Community College in 1998 with her Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene, she knew exactly where she wanted to build her career – right here in Pearl, serving the community she loves.

Jill brings warmth and expertise to every patient interaction, believing that the best dental care comes with a personal touch. Known for her ability to put patients at ease through friendly conversation (a skill that earned her the "Jerry Clower's Mouth of the South" award during her Pearl High School band days!), she treats every patient like family.

When she's not helping patients achieve their best oral health, Jill is a devoted mother to her three children and enjoys being involved in their activities. A true Pearl Pirate at heart, she and her husband of over three decades have proudly raised their children in the same community where they grew up.

Her passion for dental hygiene is matched by her interesting hobbies, including an impressive collection of vintage and porcelain Barbies. A fan of both "Game of Thrones" and "Yellowstone," Jill dreams of one day visiting Scotland and Ireland, though she's equally happy relaxing on any beach where she can hear the waves.

Jill's top dental tip? "If your gums bleed while flossing, don't stop! That's your body's signal that bacteria is present. Keep flossing to help remove it, and follow up with an antimicrobial rinse for best results."

Join our practice where you'll experience Jill's commitment to her golden rule: treating others the way she would want to be treated.

Amy Gaines Branch RDH, Dental Hygienist
Amy joined our dental family in 2022, bringing with her a passion for dental hygiene and a commitment to patient care. A graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene, Amy's educational journey took her through Hinds Community College and Delta State before finding her true calling in dental health.

Born and raised in Pearl, Mississippi, Amy's athletic prowess led her to achieve All-American status in collegiate soccer – though these days, she channels her energy into chasing after her children and two playful goldendoodles. When she's not helping patients achieve their perfect smile, you might find her binge-watching her favorite show "New Girl" (for what she claims is the 9,000th time) or planning her next adventure to Universal Studios' Harry Potter World.

As a dental hygienist, Amy is particularly fond of performing cleanings and has a unique appreciation for heart-shaped silver fillings in premolars. Her top recommendation for patients? A Sonicare electric toothbrush is non-negotiable!

Amy lives by the motto "Always strive to be better than you were yesterday," though she admits to dedicating at least one day a week to the art of relaxation. She's married to her best friend, Clayton Branch, and while she's excellent at dental hygiene, she's notorious for getting at least one detail wrong in any given story – just ask her about the time she misnavigated an Uber in New York City!

When not caring for patients' smiles, Amy enjoys staying active, munching on tooth-friendly cashews, and dreaming about her bucket list item of skydiving. Though if you really want to see her in her element, challenge her to a karaoke rendition of "Friends in Low Places"!

Helena's approach to patient care is rooted in genuine connection – she believes that truly listening to patients is the key to making them feel comfortable and valued. Her simple yet effective oral hygiene advice? "Brush them!" And if you're looking for a tooth-friendly snack recommendation, she'll tell you to reach for some pickles.

Meet Melissa Kroeze, a valued member of our dental family for nearly two years. Born and raised in Longview, Texas (yes, the same hometown as Matthew McConaughey!), Melissa's connection to dentistry started early – she practically grew up in her great uncle's dental practice where her mother worked in the front office.

Melissa earned her Masters of Health Education from Texas A&M University, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our practice. She believes in creating a comfortable environment for patients by taking the time to truly listen and ensure they feel heard throughout their dental experience.

When she's not helping patients achieve their perfect smile, you can find Melissa pursuing her passion for fitness, sipping on a quality cup of coffee, or spending time with her beloved golden retriever. She's also quite the adventurer, having grown up riding in her father's 18-wheeler across the Lone Star State. Her next big adventure? Witnessing the Northern Lights in Alaska!

A true Texan at heart, Melissa can't resist a good Tex-Mex meal. She enjoys unwinding with episodes of Hometown, gets lost in inspiring books like Redeeming Love and The Chronicles of Narnia, and isn't afraid to belt out Reba McEntire's "Fancy" when the karaoke mic comes her way.

I highly recommend Tutor Family Dentistry. Dr. Tutor and all the staff are friendly and very professional. I never have a problem scheduling appointments for me and my two kids. They are also very thorough and make me feel very comfortable no matter the procedure. My hygienist, Jill is the absolute best! Jill has been my hygienist for over 25 years.
The people at Tutor Family Dentistry are some of the nicest people I know. And I have the utmost confidence in their work, which includes a crown recently due to a large 50 year old filling in a tooth that deteriorated. It showed up in an xray made by Amy, the super nice hygienist. A temporary crown was installed, and a permanent crown installed a few days later. I highly recommend them to anyone searching for a great dental group.

FAQ

Questions
How often should I visit the dentist?

It is recommended to visit the dentist for a regular check-up and cleaning every six months. However, your dentist may suggest more frequent visits based on your individual oral health needs.

What should I do if I have a toothache?

If you experience a toothache, rinse your mouth with warm water and use dental floss to remove any food particles stuck between your teeth. If the pain persists, contact your dentist for an appointment as soon as possible. You can also take over-the-counter pain medication to help alleviate discomfort until you can see your dentist.

How can I prevent cavities?

To prevent cavities, brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, and limit sugary and acidic foods and beverages. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings are also essential for maintaining good oral health.

What are the signs of gum disease?

Signs of gum disease include red, swollen, or tender gums, bleeding while brushing or flossing, persistent bad breath, receding gums, and loose or shifting teeth. If you notice any of these symptoms, schedule an appointment with your dentist.

What payment options do you accept?

We accept most major dental insurance plans, as well as cash, credit cards, and financing options through third-party providers. Please contact our office for more information on specific payment options and to verify your insurance coverage.

What should I do in a dental emergency?

In case of a dental emergency, such as a knocked-out tooth, severe toothache, or broken dental appliance, contact our office immediately. We reserve time in our daily schedule for emergency appointments and will provide you with instructions on how to handle your situation until you can see the dentist.

Are dental X-rays safe?

Yes, modern dental X-rays are safe. The amount of radiation exposure from a dental X-ray is minimal, and dentists take precautions to minimize exposure by using lead aprons and collars. X-rays are an essential diagnostic tool for detecting dental issues that may not be visible during a regular exam.
